Daejeon City signed an investment and support agreement worth 27.4 billion won at the city hall on the 31st with Mayor Kwon and representatives of Flex System Lee Choong-hwan, JBK Jang Yoo-duk, Donghyun Engineering Shin Hyun-cheol, and Sungjin Techwin Lee Kye-kwang.

Flex System, a manufacturer of precision equipment for the aviation and defense industries in the Greater Seoul, will invest in the Haso Industrial Complex in Dong-gu, and JBK, a manufacturer of auto parts and medical devices in Pyeongtaek, and Donghyun Engineering, a tire manufacturing facility and ultra-precision machining company in Sejong, will invest in the Dungok District of the International Science and Business Belt.

Sungjin Techwin, a local company selected to supply parts for the F-35, the next-generation U.S. stealth fighter jet, and to develop the first Korean helicopter control surfaces, plans to locate and invest in the area.

Flex System will invest in a new factory (KRW 3 billion), JBK and Donghyun Engineering will relocate their headquarters, factories, and research centers in the region (KRW 17 billion), and Sungjin Techwin will relocate its research center in the metropolitan area and expand its headquarters and factories (KRW 7.4 billion).

Once the investments are completed, 162 jobs are expected to be created.

"We will spare no effort to provide administrative and financial support, including investment promotion subsidies and various licenses and permits, for the smooth investment of the companies," said Mayor Kwon.

The city plans to actively attract companies with the launch of the International Science and Business Belt Dungok District next month and the designation of Ansan National Defense Industrial Complex as a leading investment district.
